Re: v2.01 upgrade hang ={

@mistamontiel00 There are 3 software "things" on the 64drive. There's the FPGA configuration, which makes the thing work, there's an included bootloader, which is booted by the N64 so that it can take control and poke the SD card, and then the menu inside the card which gives you the ROM list and th...

Re: Quels roms pour 64drive ?

@cycy19 I can't speak French, but I can read it a bit. As @Tim said, SNES emulation on the N64 is a no-go... at least for now. There seems to be some new one in a testing stage, but I don't know it's current status. Anyway. You mentioned something about not being able to save your game (parties) wit...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

I'm afraid I don't have much more to contribute. I already checked all other RAREWARE games and other PAL releases that I thought had chances of doing 288p, and only found these. There may be some other oddball ROM arround that does something interesting in terms of video modes, but, sadly, I don't ...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

It's entirely possible that I'm talking out of my ass here, but: From listening to the experts in the matter, the N64 seems to be mainly bottlenecked at the RCP, which has to deal with all the data buses on the system (cart, RAM, CPU), and then the RDRAM's high latency. In emulation, specially if we...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

The emulator runs at the same frame rates as the console so you get a good general idea. I haven't used PJ64 or any emulator in ages, but I'd say that they actually get some better FPS performance than hardware. Don't take my word for it, but I think N64 emulators in general don't really perform th...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

I can't say I have proof for this, but, somehow, at least for GE and PD, I actually perceived the PAL versions to be faster. My assumption for this unverified observation is that they had a little more time to optimize the code. I was surprised to see this, as I assumed that the lower resolution wou...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

I use IrfanView as a picture viewer. For this, it is very useful to use pointscaling (non-smoothed pixels) to really see what's going on. Look, for example, at the SSB example. Pay attention at the diagonal edge on the great fox's top. compare closely PAL and NTSC. You'll see that PAL has the 5 to 6...

Re: Rareware games on the N64: NTSC vs. PAL

I checked this by capturing S-Video with a PCI Bt878-chipset capture card and DSCaler; obsessively scouring all the configuration menus, to make sure the capture is as "raw" as possible. There are some framebuffer captures taken with a parallel port ActionReplay, too. I'm too lazy to make a proper p...

true PAL games.

I didn't post this here first because, not having any HDMI enabled display (my PC monitor is still VGA), I mostly skip threads like this. But I did answer to another thread that seems to be a spinoff of this one, from someone asking about this very thing, and I thought that those interested might mi...

Re: 64drive HW2 officially out

Congratulations!
I'll be sticking to my HW1 for some time, though, as I'm broke.
