GBUD worklog

My buddy had some interest in a Wideboy since he's a Gameboy nut, but wasn't able to get ahold of one (they are pretty rare and expensive). I irresponsibly said "maybe I could just shoehorn a GBC into a N64?". One thing led to another and he sent his poor beleaguered childhood GBC to be used as a sa...

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Just noticed on a recent My Life In Gaming podcast that someone is having an issue with using the UltraHDMI with an HDMI switcher box. I believe the issue may be directly related to why the UltraHDMI causes issues with the Audio Return Channel of an AVR. The issue is related to the ESD clamps on th...

Re: Game titles displayed incorrectly

The accents require an expanded fontset. Fonts take up a lot of memory - it's probaly not going to happen in the current menu.
I wrote a new font engine for the new menu which so far only takes about 38KB for each charset, it should be well possible to add extended charset.

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Several users have reported problems with mini-HDMI adapters. It seems it's a lot better to use a dedicated mini to fullsize HDMI cable.

Re: Controller Pak

Yup, Controller Pak is accessed over SI channels which isn't electrically available from the cart slot. I did start to add a virtual auto-swapping pak for each game in 64drive menu, but there was some reason it would've been dicey. So at least you could have 1 physical pak yet provide each game its ...

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Game-Tech is doing a preorder currently. He is the only installer willing to sell single kits, so if you've been waiting for that, you can reserve one. Note it's a pre-order, not a "I have stock in hand" order. https://www.game-tech.us/product/ultrahdmi/ Badass Consoles also is doing a install sale ...

Re: Neon64 with Savestates

Added to new test version: http://64drive.retroactive.be/menu.bin Seems to work, I tested with Kirby. When the NES > 64 SRAM is selected, it triggers a save writeback as expected, and reloads on the next boot from menu. I have noticed a few audio bugs, mostly when starting Kirby (I haven't tested ot...

Re: Neon64 with Savestates

Great work, I'll test soon. Another thing that might be useful is to move the saving from Controller PAK sram to the Save SRAM (at 0x0800 0000). It is a lot easier to use than banging on SI which is necessary for the controller pak. If that works I can edit the menu to support per-game save files fo...
