Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Sounds like you are using the right stuff. With just the ribbon attached you should still get the old av without issues. If not then either you have a bridge on adjacent pins or you have lifted the RCP pins from the board. Both are very possible. I like to tack the ribbon in each section and then tu...

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

I have done ~30 installs so far and on all of them I run my iron at 330C. I use that temp for almost everything without issue. How are you damaging the RCP? Are you drag soldering the ribbon? Do you use flux? What type of solder are you using? What type of tip/iron?

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Right now you would need to find someone that has an extra. Unless Marshall has some and can respond. Otherwise you may be out of luck for a couple weeks.

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

It could be an issue with how the display is handling the image processing and any upscaling for your tv. Using my Samsung and my Sony I have not experienced these issues personally. My Sony does not upconverting and all image processing is off. My Samsung is generally used in Game Mode.

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

I have heard of that happening before. Are you running through a receiver? The only time I had heard of it was when a customer was passing through a receiver that was trying to upscale.

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

No problem. Just remember flux is your friend and use a good drag soldering tip. Also don't linger in any one spot too long.

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

I'll again mention interest in a small batch if available! :D EDIT: was able to grab them through Game-Tech who had a handful left...here goes nothing guys! :D Are you doing a self install? If so and you have not done one before, make sure you watch and follow Marshall's instructions from his video...
