Re: Sega Dreamcast VGA to Component mod

This should be possible. I do not know whether it is possible to tap the digital video signal somewhere, but I suppose it would be in RGB format. Then with an FPGA you would have to convert it to, I think, YPbPr format. If there is no way to tap the digital video signal, you would have to sample the...

Re: N64 region mod

So I figure that I should be able to automate the switching between chips, if I remember correctly: If leg 7 of the PAL-chip doesn't give any signal after X time, then reset and switch to NTSC. Might be totally of though... Something like this should definitely be possible. Unfortunately I really d...

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

Yes and no. It's a simple question with a lot of answers. Right now I plan on having two main modes: normal and direct. Normal involves buffering at up to 0.5-1 frame of delay to allow the TV to continously sync up to the generated signal, no matter what the N64 is doing. As an example, many games ...

Re: N64 region mod

I would probably use a CMOS switching chip instead of relays. You can get one for $2 that muxes up to 8 signals at once. But yes, to have both region support you would need a NTSC and PAL PIF installed and switchable. Also, the clocking is different on PAL units than the rest. While all consoles us...

Re: N64 HDMI converter thread

This sounds really good. I have been following this project for quite some time. I even decided to try to make my own thing, just for learning. At the moment it outputs VGA. 240p is working, 480i has a jumpy image, which is not too strange. I am just not sure what to do with the 480i signal. Line do...
