Hi everyone!, im Giovanni from Chile, first let me say the 64drive is awesome!, (putting together all your n64 games on one cartridge and playing them is just fantastic), but i'm having problems upgrading to ver2. the flashcart says it has installed the 1.05 firmware, so i decided to upgrade, downloaded the 64drive_usb_1xx and the 64drive_firm_200.bin and tried to upgrade but no luck (see attached image), the flashcart is working fine on 1.05 firmware.
my rig:
Win 8.1
Intel core i7-4960X
mobo : asus rampage IV black edition
ram 32GB
Dual Geforce GTX titan Black
P.D.: sorry if my english i'snt quite good, i'm learning it :)

Yes, but something funny happens it says " not enough system resources" and avira detect a malicious file. thats why i'm using the command line option.

First confirm that USB comms are working:

Code: Select all

64drive_usb -l rom.z64 64drive_usb -d dump.bin 0x4000000
You should get a file that compares exactly with the source rom.

If you have timeouts while doing the first step, it could be a hardware problem. The same thing occurs when running under a VM.

The easy upgrader extracts a file from itself and writes it to the hard drive as a temporary file. That might be what is causing the problem with your antivirus. I have Microsoft Security Essentials and it goes through fine.

Hi, thanks for your fast replies, i was trying the procedure on other machine (win7), and the command line option said it was all fine ( the erase and write steps went fine, according to the messages) but when loading the cart on n64 it still on v1.05 firm, the pc recognize the cart right away, maybe need some special usb drivers?

How long did the process take? You should see the "Upgrade writing" progress bar for about 10-20 seconds. If it happens instantly it failed somewhere and gave up.

Also, remember there is an internal counter to 1.xx firmwares that starts going as soon as you apply power. At 11 seconds it locks out firmware upgrades. The 1.xx upgrade procedure is very dumb, so it may appear to work but it was ignored.

Finally! just upgraded!, in my win 8 machine was a no-go, so tried the process on my win7 machine, but before i disconnect every usb device (except the 64drive) and voila! everything went soft as silk.
Thanks everyone! Just want to say the 64drive is a awesome piece of hardware.
(now playing bomberman64, bangai-o and of course mario kart64) :D
